We are really pleased that the Fusion Youth Project will be running for four weeks from the 25 July in the summer holidays. This long established project based at Huntingdon Youth Centre at Sallowbush Road attracts several hundred eight to eighteen-year-olds each year. Tel: 01480 375030

Any town the size of Huntingdon relies on a good mix of independent and national businesses. Here is the news from some of our well known independent businesses.

Café du Gallery is, as always, open for business! Owner Steve Bennett wants to reassure customers that there is NO connection between his long established successful Huntingdon café and the café with a similar name which was recently subject to investigation.  We are pleased to welcome Karn Richmond as the new owner of Pop Bellies.  Although it is early days we understand that Karn plans to retain the intimate atmosphere of this popular high street café.  Another independent with a strong local identity is Hunts Antiques & Collectables.  Now under new ownership it has been renamed Cambs Lock, Antiques and Collectables.  Again, the new owners are keen to keep the great features of this independent business.

The appearance of beloved local landmark, The Falcon Inn, on Huntingdonshire District Council’s Buildings At Risk register allows the local authority to prioritise its preservation to ensure it stands in our market square for centuries to come. The Facebook page indicates the historic pub is now under offer.

On a larger scale the exciting plans for Chequers Court have been submitted and will be considered for approval in the summer.  The details can be viewed on Huntingdonshire District Council website under “Planning”.

Many of our local organisations operate solely with volunteers - did you know we have a really vibrant volunteer centre in Huntingdon that supports these groups? If you have time and you would like to volunteer why not contact the local office at the Methodist Church, High Street, open Mon-Thurs 10-12 noon Tel: 01480 414766  www.volunteeringcambsandpboro.org.uk

Finally, good luck to Huntingdon in Bloom.  The judges for Anglia in Bloom visited on Friday 8 July and the Britain in Bloom judges will be in town in the first week of August.  Thank you to everyone who plays a part providing the beautiful floral displays.
