New & Crier article Huntingdon Town Partnership Date 4 August 2010 We have welcomed three new businesses to town. On the High Street, Enis’z, barbers and men’s grooming and Orange, a phone shop, and in All Saints Passage a new espresso café offering healthy food options. All new businesses add to the vitality of the town and draw in other potential businesses.
As the Town Partnership Manager I work for Huntingdon Town Partnership, an organisation which relies on the support of volunteers and local organisations with the common goal of making Huntingdon a better place. The funds raised during the year in grants, core sponsors, membership fees and fundraising are all focused on Huntingdon based projects to achieve this goal. On our website, www.huntingdontownpartnership.co.uk we acknowledge all our core sponsors and members and we are pleased to welcome two new core sponsors who have pledged financial support – Anglian Water and Urban and Civic. Are you trying to find a shop or destination in town? The law courts are a favourite request! An example of a Partnership project that is self-funding and for the benefit of all are the ten wall mounted maps showing all the shops, services and destinations in Huntingdon. Available as a PDF on our website, the map is also used for 20,000 printed leaflets called “A Guide to Shops and Services” which is then available FREE for visitors. A big thank you to the main sponsor of this project, Omni Security, and also to all those local organisations who have taken advertising space: Shopmobility, Coleman’s, Steve’s Taxis, Hunts & District Rugby Club, Luminus Group, Leeds Day Solicitors, Lighter Life and Space Gallery. Without your support this project would not happen and it will benefit shoppers, visitors and tourists to Huntingdon for the next two years. This project is due to be in place by September and the FREE leaflets will be distributed to key locations in the town. Contact the HTP office on 01480 450 250 if you would like a delivery of the printed map leaflets. Support given is not always by way of financial contributions, it could be volunteer time, expert advice or support, but the end result brings benefits for all in the town. I would like to acknowledge two great “supporters” who are moving on to new challenges but have made a significant difference to our town and added great enjoyment to my role. Sue Wyett at Julian Graves and Stan Taylor at Huntingdonshire Regional College, both of whom have been amazing supporters and networkers during their time in Huntingdon. Next time we will be focusing on the ninth Annual Continental Market and preparations for the Christmas festivities Katy Sismore, Huntingdon Town Partnership Manager Tel 01480 450 250 Email
